Here’s something cool: When James says “Faith without works is dead,” (James 2) he’s definitely talking about doing nice things for people. But he’s also using the same Greek word for “works” (ergon) as Jesus did when He referred to His own miracles, and then said, “”Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.” (John 14:11,12)
And it’s also the same word Paul used when he said that we’re “created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” (Eph 2:10)
So – God created us to have the miraculous as part of our lives. It’s a sign that we have living faith – that we’re not wasting our time on a myth or a lie.
Kinda kicks your expectations up a notch, huh?
