Chapter 5 of Proverbs talks about the perils of adultery – it inevitably leads to destruction and ruin; it’s a pathway to hell. There are no efforts too extravagant to avoid this trap.
If you’re caught up in it, though, there’s good news. King David, in his affair with Bathsheba committed both adultery and murder, but received forgiveness when he repented. That same forgiveness is available to us when we stumble, too.
Today’s focus for me:
His own iniquities entrap the wicked man,
And he is caught in the cords of his sin.
He shall die for lack of instruction,
And in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.
Verse 23 ties lack of instruction to foolishness. The solution is simple, as we’re learning: Ask God for wisdom and understanding. He wants to give it, without measure.
