Until recently, I thought this verse helped explain why sometimes bad things happen:
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD.
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways,
And My thoughts than your thoughts.
However… let’s look at the whole picture. Here are a few verses from earlier in the chapter:
“Ho! Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters;
And you who have no money,
Come, buy and eat.
Yes, come, buy wine and milk
Without money and without price.
Incline your ear, and come to Me.
Hear, and your soul shall live;
And I will make an everlasting covenant with you —
The sure mercies of David.
Seek the LORD while He may be found,
Call upon Him while He is near.
(Isaiah 55:1, 3, 6 NKJV)
How about that! God is inviting us to see things from His perspective!
That’s my new definition of Wisdom – seeing things from God’s point of view. He created everything, and has a plan for everything.
I’ve been reading from the book of Proverbs every day – chapter 3 on the 3rd, chapter 10 on the 10th, etc. The more I see God’s wisdom manifest in my life, the more of it I want. Join me?
